Job Overview:

At UDMI, the Medical Billing Clerk is responsible for verifying health insurance benefits for all new and existing patients. This position will contact patient's insurance company to verify coverage levels and works with patients to walk them through their benefits information.

Job Responsibilities:

• Verify patient insurance coverage to ensure necessary procedures are covered by the provider.
• Notify patient and help arrange alternative payment methods when insurance does not cover services.
• Enter data in an accurate manner in order to update patient benefit information correctly in our EMR and verify that existing information is accurate.
• Perform routine administrative and clerical tasks to keep the office running smoothly.
• Consistently review eligibility responses in insurance verification system.
• Investigate and verify any secondary coverage.
• Calculate patient's financial responsibility in advance of procedure/exam.
• Request payments from patients and guarantors where appropriate.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• High school graduate or GED
• Minimum six months' experience in a medical billing or third party payer environment
• Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of contracts, insurance benefits, exclusions, and other billing requirements - as well as claim forms, HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, Medicaid, and compliance program regulations.
• Candidate must be able to understand and navigate the payer adjudication process.
• Candidate must have experience in using EMR systems for patient, practice, and financial management.
• Working knowledge of medical technology, with an emphasis in Radiology preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
