Description
Do you like working behind the scenes while keeping a large facility running? The Office of Building and Mechanical Services provides mechanical, building/grounds maintenance and electronic security for state-owned buildings.The Division of Mechanical Services is comprised of HVAC technicians, licensed electricians, licensed plumbers, boiler/chiller technicians, electronic security technicians and mechanics.
The Mechanical Maintenance and Operations Tech III is responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, operation, installation and replacement of boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, electrical and plumbing of Finance Cabinet owned buildings. This position will provide coverage for the Mechanical Maintenance and Operations Supervisor in his/her absence. You will provide assistance to engineers and contractors with Capital Construction Projects. This position will also maintain equipment related records, work orders, purchase orders, maintenance history and other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in the maintenance or repair of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, ventilation, or electrical systems.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.
Working Conditions
May be required to take care of emergency repairs twenty-four hours a day.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
