Interviewing for a Mechanic Level 1 position

Shift: Night 8:30pm to 5:30am

PURPOSE:

Perform work in maintenance, inspection, and repair of facility equipment and infrastructure. Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment by testing, adjusting, cleaning, and replacing worn parts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload. Complete assigned tasks independently as well as with other mechanics. Perform timely repairs to facility equipment and infrastructure in emergent and non-emergent situations. Assist in the fabrication and installation of systems and devices throughout the facility. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures. Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and supplies in good working condition. Maintain safe and clean working environment for self and all personnel at the facility. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of safety issues and uses safe practices in use of hand tools and power tools.
• Basic knowledge of bearings, sprockets, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, belting, and rollers.
• Basic knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Must be willing, able, and capable to be trained as a first responder in the event of an emergency.
• Experience with MIG and stick welding, preferred.
• Experience with torch and plasma cutter, preferred.
• Ability to read and understand machinery / facility drawings, preferred.
• General computer knowledge in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office preferred.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Able to read and understand written information in English a plus.
• Forklift, Scissor Lift, Telescopic Lift experience/certification a plus.
• Familiarity with maintenance shop environment a plus.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clean DMV record.
• Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day at various heights. Ability to work outdoors. Ability to move in food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms). Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 120° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 75 lbs to a height of 4.5 feet.

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

• Weekend availability
