SENIOR MARINE INSTRUCTOR (ROTC)
POSITION DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified by the Commandant of the Marine Corps
- Retired as an officer with at least 20 years of active duty and drawing retirement pay
- College graduate (mandatory)
- At least one assignment in an instructor billet
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Tour of independent duty such as I-I which required participation in community activities, etc.
- Demonstrated interest in youth groups (scout leader, little league coach, etc)
- Retired not more than 3 years from the effective date of employment (waiver may be requested)
REPORTS TO: Tuba City High School Principal
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months; contract salary to be established by the Governing Board and in consonance with agreement with the U.S. Marine Corps.
JOB GOAL: To supervise the personnel and operations of the MCJROTC Leadership Program (includes developing and implementing curriculum).
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is primarily responsible for the operations of the MCJROTC Leadership Program.
- Represents the Commandant of the Marine Corps on all faculty committees whose recommendations could affect the Leadership Education Department.
- Supervises the Marine Instructors and evaluates their performance of duty.
- Assists the Principal in matters relating to the MCJROTC program.
- Coordinates the use of the MCJROTC weapons ranges and circuit course between departments and schools within TCUSD #15 and acts as the Principal's representative and manager on all actions contemplated regarding these facilities.
- Supervises and is primarily responsible for military and school equipment assigned to the MCJROTC Department.
- Develops curriculum to encourage responsible citizenship by the cadets and sets the moral and professional example.
- Acting in behalf of the Principal, TCHS is the sole controlling manager of the armory contained in TCHS.
- Conducts a quarterly briefing of past and proposed MCJROTC events for the Principal and Superintendent.
- Maintain liaison with social, professional, civic, volunteer and other agencies and groups having an interest in the MCJROTC program.
- Compiles operational statistics.
- Reviews student eligibility criteria for enrollment in the MCJROTC Leadership Program and will recommend to the Principal disenrollment action when appropriate.
- Advises the Superintendent and/or Principal on matters affecting agreements between the TCUSD #15 and the U.S. Marine Corps.
- Serves on routine committees and performs other extracurricular duties normally performed by other high school department
15. Conducts job interviews for prospective Marine instructors and makes recommendations to the Principal regarding hiring and termination.
16. Performs such duties and tasks and assumes responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal.
EVALUATION: Performance evaluation of the incumbent will be in accordance with Marine Corps Order P 1533.6A.
