About our organization
Youth Automotive Training Center is a non-profit school located in Deerfield Beach, Florida. We teach basic automotive skills to an at-risk population (16-21 years old) along with a general academic curriculum. We are currently seeking a math teacher who demonstrates strong skills in basic through upper-level math, with a varied background and teaching experiences that will accommodate the needs of our diverse student body.
In conjunction with, someone who is enthusiastic, multifaceted, insightful and a well-rounded individual with a background in engaging with an underserved, youthful and multicultural population. As well as, possessing the capability to effectively communicate, identify and navigate the unique nuances of our student body. The ideal candidate may have had a brief and diverse experience(s) in working with youth encountering difficult circumstances, social work, and or the juvenile justice system with an emphasis on mathematics education or any affiliation in the related fields.
Essential Functions of the Position:
· Demonstrates strong and effective knowledge of basic/upper level math
· Plans and executes appropriate lessons throughout the school year
· Uses effective and creative instructional strategies
· Displays effective and consistent classroom management skills
· Maintains proper student behavior and appropriate classroom conduct
· Uses a variety of methods and techniques to engage students in learning
· Prepares a positive and effective class environment that supports learning
· Ability to work well with others with an emphasis on team cohesiveness
· Proficient in basic computer skills (word, excel, Dropbox etc.)
· Ability to be self-motivated, self-sufficient, reliable, creative and innovative
· Demonstrates appropriate professional behavior with students and staff

- Small Class size (10 students per class; two instuctors in the academic class)

- Broward County Schools major holidays off with pay (i.e. winter break, spring break)
- Workday 8-4 P.M. no weekends (excluding annual fundraisers)
- Ability to work independently of the Broward County School System

Preferred Skills/Credentials
· Current Florida Teaching Certification in Math (additional subjects helpful)
· Bachelor’s Degree or higher
· Experience teaching at risk youth in public or private school
· Experience working in the Juvenile Justice system (i.e. Probation, detention centers, group homes, or youth counseling facilities)
