Job description

Seeking an experienced Material and Purchasing Manager to own all aspects of material-related activity within the business. This includes distribution inventory, components, and raw material procurement. The Material and Purchasing Manager will collaborate with other managers to determine demand requirements and translate those demands into system-based forecasts to drive purchases. The Material and Purchasing Manager will also be responsible for the production planning activity and material stores. The Material and Purchasing Manager will ensure process standards are both followed and improved.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/Logistics or alternative equivalent. Experience in both material and production planning is desired. A minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory role is required.

Responsibilities

Develops inventory strategy

Sets ordering policies

Owns ongoing SIOP process coordinating with sales to establish/update item-based forecasts

Analyzes demand and forecast to set optimized buy plan

Places purchase orders respecting supplier lead times

Manages inventory performance to maximize fill rate availability and minimize stockouts

Maintains accuracy of data within ERP

Supplier selection – Establishes criteria and selects suppliers

Supplier Management - Manages suppliers and supply base to maximize performance in Quality, Delivery and Cost Ensures production plans are in place with work orders released to cover demand of manufactured components Ensures materials are properly allocated to work orders and provided to production in a timely manner

Ensures inventory accuracy of component and raw material stock

Ensures existing standards are properly trained and followed

Ensures existing standards are updated and improved

Establishes new standards where applicable to improve business practices and scalability

Requirements

Knowledge and ongoing awareness of Supply Chain and Inventory Management Best Practices

Strong organizational development, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Familiarity with cloud-based inventory planning tools

Strong Microsoft Excel ability

Experience with establishing and managing to key performance indicators

Leadership skills in team management, influence, planning, negotiation, communication

Bachelor's with specialization in Logistics, Material Management or Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management 5 to 10 year’s relevant management experience
