What You’ll Do
The Manager, Systems Engineering – will be responsible for Managing a team of experienced engineers responsible for overall management, performance, and availability of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, server OS, virtualization, RDS, hosts/chassis, storage, monitoring, datacenters, disaster recovery and data protection for the enterprise supporting critical business functions.
Interact and partner with infrastructure engineers and application developers to design, implement, and manage Tier-0 systems. Serve as a technical and functional subject matter expert across multiple areas of systems engineering. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong enthusiasm for a variety of systems technologies, leadership skills to manage skills and resources, build relationships, and leverage automation to reduce inefficiencies and be at the forefront of innovation.

  • Evaluates hardware and software utilized by the department for gaps and inefficiencies, making recommendations to address them
  • Maintains current knowledge of their field and advises senior management of current trends relating to the environment or available products
  • Defines standards and procedures identified for work assignments
  • Completes all tasks within assigned schedule and budget while maintaining a high level of quality
  • Resolves, or seeks resolution to problems, from peers, immediate manager, or other Operations personnel
  • Drives team to execute at a high level to contribute to the organization's success
  • Communicates key information to team and stakeholders on timely basis
  • Maintains a positive work attitude, a high level of communication and cordial relations that foster teamwork
  • Determines/monitors training and development plans, performance/personnel management of members
  • Builds capacity among team by identifying skill gaps, making, and executing plans to address them
  • Manages team performance through annual performance reviews, as well as sharing observations and suggestions for greater effectiveness on individual and team basis throughout the year
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops engineers to enhance their professional growth
  • Manages budgetary needs and participate in the budget process

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of managing employees in a managerial role (preferred)
  • Previous experience with Azure cost management (preferred)
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering role (required)
  • Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience maintaining AD, Azure AD, Windows OS, VMware vSphere, M365, storage systems, modern hardware and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery systems, system performance monitoring, and disaster recovery practices
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and operations best practices
  • Expert troubleshooting skills using a variety of tools
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies quickly
  • Highly disciplined and able to work independently and without direct supervision
  • Excellent communicator on both a technical level with the engineers and a project level with stakeholders and executives
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize
