Job description
The Clinical Informatics Manager is responsible to work with clinical staff and physicians to optimize the clinical system (MedHost) through workflow analysis to enhance quality patient care outcomes and promote patient safety. Plans, coordinates and monitors development, implementation, training, evaluation, and ongoing evaluation of assigned clinical systems. Has ultimate responsibility for hospital’s continued compliance with Meaningful Use requirements and develops, recommends, and implements policies and processes to ensure compliance; provides training and education to physicians and staff.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively with many skill levels within the organization includingthe executive staff, directors and managers, physicians, and clinical staff
- Must have good project management skills
• Must display the ability to work well in a team environment and be able to work independent• Must have strong conceptual, analytical, and judgement skills
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, desktop management tools, PC diagnostictools
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet and track deadlines continuously underminimal supervision
- Broad understanding of patient care processes with sound competency in mapping real-lifeclinical practices to informatics applications
- Adept at persuading and training physicians and clinical staff to adopt new workflows and tools,requiring strong knowledge of change management
- Broad knowledge of hospital operations and associated applications
- Good familiarity with project management, performance improvement and clinical informationsystems design. Experience with Medhost application desired
- The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and inwriting required; as is the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken andwritten word
- Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits
- Responsible for ensuring hospital compliance with all Meaningful Use requirements
- Works with clinical departments to ensure that clinical application support quality care andregulatory compliance
- Shares responsibility for after hours call rotation every third week in full. On-call duties willinclude basic to advanced triage and troubleshooting of issues following proper supportchannels with response and escalation.
Special Skills & Qualitfications
- Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment. Must possess the ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time and to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Trouble ticket software monitoring, support, escalation, and resolution.

Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare/business related field preferred
Degree in Informatics preferred
Experience/Certification in Project Management preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association preferred
Minimum Work Experience
5 years of clinical experience with good understanding of clinical processes and workflow.Possess a working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
Required Skills
Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.Must be detail oriented, organized and have the ability to multi-task.Preference to have experience with the following equipment: Computer/AS 400 System/Networking/Medhost or similar EHR.Possess the ability to effect change among groups from various clinical and /or financial departments, coordinate/ prioritize information and activities and problem solve.
