Essential Job Duties

• Performs routine and assigned maintenance per A.N.S.I, manufacturer and Oakland Zoo Maintenance Department standards.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Who You Are

• Have at least 2 years of experience (or equivalent education) in professional maintenance.
• Skilled in safe use of tools and equipment associated with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and welding trades.
• Basic knowledge of general construction in some or all of the above areas.
• Possess excelled judgement and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Able and willingness to learn Aerial Systems (Gondola and Sky Ride) as well as other mechanical rides in the Zoo.
• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Over 18 years of age.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work outside in all weather conditions, sometimes in or around significant dirt and dust.
• Able to bend and twist, lift, stand, kneel, sit, walk, bend, stoop and speak regularly and for 8-hour shifts.

Bonus If You

• Have a valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean DMV record (able to obtain authorization to drive from Zoo’s insurance provider)
