Hours for this Position: 7 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Thursday, Friday 5 am - 1:30, with required overtime hours every other (early) Saturday morning.

Compensation/Benefits: Probationary pay is $19.50/hr and a raise to $22.48 after passing the 30 day probationary period - opportunities to advance levels for higher pay as you learn and grow with the company. Mechanical Technician Level 1 Description

With indirect Supervision, is assigned to specific areas or equipment in the plant. Has a general mechanical knowledge of the equipment. Performs preventative, corrective and predicted maintenance associated with the upkeep of the equipment. Requires direct Supervision on complex troubleshooting, mechanical problems and corrective actions.

Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.

Working knowledge of Trouble shooting.

Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

Examines parts to detect imperfections and replaces as needed.

Repairs or replaces defective parts.

Starts devices to test their performance.

Maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.

Knowledge of basic machine tools such as grinders, drills, saws.

Minimal machining capabilities

Some exposure to operation of cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

Performs semi skilled preventive maintenance on equipment to insure proper operation and longevity of parts.

Builds guards as needed on production equipment to OSHA standards.

Connects wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, and splices wire and insulates wire with friction tape. Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment under the direction of Electrical Technician.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Steel/composite toe boots/shoes and safety glasses are required in all areas of the mill. Bump camp and hearing protection are required in certain areas. The working conditions are noisy and dusty; associates are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen (including marijuana) and pre-employment physical.
