Job Description

The position will be responsible for directing the maintenance activities of the plant’s operations and plans and assigns work on the shift assigned. The Maintenance Supervisor will direct and work alongside the maintenance crew while providing assistance and direction to help maximize production output and minimize downtime executes policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. Must be able to establish expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.

Responsibilities & Tasks

• Supervision of the maintenance team
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
• Meet maintenance operational standards by contributing maintenance information to strategic plans and reviews; implements production, productivity, and quality standards.
• Evaluate facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments; identifies problems and implements solutions.
• Maintain function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by implementing or following preventive maintenance programs; operating and testing systems and equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.
• Assists in the development of the continuous improvement process.
• Provides leadership and organizational skills to the department.
• Train and provide an environment for employees to achieve maximum quality and productivity performance.
• Manage employee performance, providing positive and/or corrective feedback.
• Promote safety throughout the assigned work area.
• Ensure reporting requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.
• Supervise, coach and train employees, providing professional development through ongoing feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement.
• Work with Quality Assurance ensuring a food safe and sanitary environment within specifications and USDA requirements.
• Optimize profit by reducing costs with continuous improvement activities through employee involvement and positive leadership.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Experience:

• 4-6 hourly maintenance employees.

Minimum Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Maintenance in production manufacturing: 5+ years (Required)
• Supervisor: 3 years (Preferred)
• Strong Electrical and mechanical skills required.
• Machine automation and control systems experience preferred.
• Maintenance troubleshooting: 3 years (Required)
• Ability to read blueprints

Required Technical Skills:

• Proficient English language knowledge and skills (oral and written).
• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
• Demonstrated success in building effective teams with proven ability to lead by engaging and motivating a team and influencing an organization.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills, sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with all levels within the organization.
• Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft office programs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Ability to handle and resolve most issues independently.
• High work capacity, dependable, results-oriented and a strong sense of urgency.
• Demonstrated sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.

Safety Requirements:

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.

Physical Requirements:

• Work in varying temperatures, frequently subject to extreme wet and cold, as well as hot and humid environments.
• Subject to odors and areas with moderate to extreme levels of noise.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Bending, twisting, climbing, stacking, pushing and standing for long periods of time.
• Weekend and off-shift work to be expected.
