Job description
As an Mechanic at the Fairport Mine, this person will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing malfunctions, making adjustments, disassembling, maintaining, and repairing mining and lubrication equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic, diesel and low voltage electrical systems
- Conducting predictive and preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability and safety of equipment and operators
- Keeping work environment clean and orderly
- Following all safety practices
- Reading and working from fabrication drawings, hydraulic prints and schematics, blueprints, and automotive type low voltage electrical schematics
- Safely and efficiently operating tools including, but not limited to, power & hand tools, welding and torching equipment
- Completing all other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- 3-5 years of experience in an Mechanic role, preferably in a mining environment
- Basic computer skills, preferred
- Welding and belt line structure experience, preferred
Additional Details:
- Must be available to work any shift
- Must have the ability to work overtime (including holidays and weekends) as needed
- Work in this position may take place outdoors and be subject to weather conditions
- Work may also take place in an underground mine where most lighting is by cap lamp and/or equipment lighting and uneven floor conditions may exist
- Frequent mounting and dismounting of equipment is required
- Must be able to lift 65 lbs or more regularly
