Floor Nurses – Team Leader

Job Overview

Responsible for administering medications to facility residents and charting pertinent information in resident’s charts. Assists with Treatments as needed.

Reports to Resident Care Manager.

Basic Qualification

Education/Training: A current degree in nursing from an accredited college or university is required. Current CPR card is required.

Skills: Knowledge of basic ADL’s and regulatory requirements. Gerontological nursing is preferred. Computer skills required to complete assessments and documentation. Good communication skills with residents, families and staff. Basic knowledge of frequently used medications in long term care. Must be able to push/pull med cart (approx. 50lbs) during shift.

Experience: Previous experience in long term care preferred.

  • Protect Resident Rights and ensure an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well -being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.
  • Support, coordinate with, and implement specific procedures and programs for: Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety disaster plans, risk management and security, report and/or correcting unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs
  • Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.
  • Support and participate in common teamwork Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
  • Promotes customer service with residents, family members and guests.
  • Adheres to requirements for in-service training; attendance, uniform, department and dress code policies, including personal hygiene, and completes other work duties as assigned.

Essential Duties

  • Administering medications in a professional, accurate and timely manner.
  • Count narcotics at each change of shift.
  • Apply treatments to residents using proper technique.
  • Complete resident assessments as needed
  • Monitor and assist NACs as needed in resident care.
  • Chart all pertinent information in residents’ charts.
  • Complete incident reporting as necessary.
  • Alert charge nurse of medication order needs.
  • And other duties as assigned.
