The Cypress of Charlotte is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the SouthPark area in Charlotte, NC. We currently have vacancies for an LPN / RN for Full-time, All shifts, EOW, and PRN. This person is responsible for:

Following established policies and procedures and/or specific instructions from supervisory nursing staff. The Nurse is responsible for hands-on resident care, proper and timely administration of medications and treatments, accurate verbal and written reports, and rapid response to any/all emergency situations. Abides and follows established policy and procedures as outlined by the community, local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Receive and give a report at shift change for LPN/RN and CNA.
  • Make Rounds. Report all deficiencies to the Director of Nursing.
  • Count and sign off on narcotics at the beginning and the end of the shift.
  • Pass medications, document on the Medication Administration Record (MAR), and notifies the Director of Nursing of any incomplete documentation.
  • Apply treatments, lotions, dressings, etc. as needed, documented in the treatment record.
  • Document on residents per protocol.
  • Notify family and physicians of changes in resident condition as necessary.
  • Monitor dining room during meals, ensuring all necessary staff is present.
  • Replenish supplies for the medicine cart, medicine room, and resident rooms if there is a shortage, order through central supply personnel.
  • Prepare paperwork for residents’ appointments. Verify the timely return of the results of labs, x-rays, and physical reports. Follow up on all abnormal lab values.
  • Monitor CNAs and floor nurses’ completion of assignments, and prepare assignment sheets for CNAs. Verify completion of ADL charting by CNAs within the touch screen tracker. Follow through on charting.
  • Perform phlebotomy on residents requiring lab tests.
  • Transcribe all admissions orders, process orders to various disciplines, and transcribe to the MAR.
  • Schedule all laboratory work and physician appointments, documenting on the calendar and scheduling transportation as necessary.
  • Notify pharmacy and laboratory of admissions, changes in orders, discharges, and deaths.
  • Keep medical equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Report any non-functioning equipment to the Director of Nursing.
  • Initiate and monitor IVs per the protocol and frequently, mark the date and time on IV solutions. Remove as ordered.
  • Monitor tube feedings as needed, marking date and time on bags and syringes. Remove as ordered.
  • Monitor restraint usage; verify removal per restraint guidelines.
  • Recheck MAR prior to the first of the month and ongoing to ensure accurate medication administration.
  • Assist with residential health care needs including emergency calls (SARA) and recording in log book.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive care plans and attend family meetings on occasion.
  • Obtain vitals as ordered and minimally monthly.
  • Assists with orientation, training, and evaluation of nursing personnel.
  • Document a discharge in the discharge summary, nurses’ notes, and death update as applicable.
