Summary/Objective:

LPN's help patients by providing information, services, and assistance. Other duties include securing medical records; maintaining medical supplies inventory; performing preventive maintenance to keep equipment operating.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • File documents of patients’ treatments for record purposes. This should be done by observing utmost confidentiality in respect of patients’ privacy in line with the medical code of conduct guideline
  • Assist in scheduling patients’ appointments with the pediatrician, and keep both the patient and his/her doctor updated on changes or cancellations of previous appointments
  • Inform the pediatrician of the arrival of the patient; also keep him/her informed of those waiting to see him/her
  • Have a discussion with patients to get information about their health history for use in filling the relevant forms patients need to complete
  • Prepare treatment rooms for doctors for them to be able to attend to patients in a conducive environment
  • Carry out tests and immunization on patients in line with the pediatrician’s instructions
  • Facilitate patients’ checking in and out of the clinic
  • Prepare patient for exam and obtain medical history
  • Records patient information such as vital signs and changes in medication history
  • Performs routine screenings and routing lab tests such as urine dips, strep screens, flu tests, etc.
  • Administer medications or vaccinations as directed by the Provider
  • Clean exam rooms after patient visits
  • Follow OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations
  • This is not an exhaustive list and additional duties may be assigned as needed.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing;
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations;
  • Knowledge of inventory control;
  • Knowledge of medical terminology;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials;
  • Word processing, data entry, telephone and computer experience;
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • LPN with three (3) years of experience
  • Likeness for children: The LPN will be someone who likes children and enjoys been with them
  • Must be dependable and take initiative
  • Patience: Dealing with children requires a lot of patience in getting them to do what is expected as they can be reluctant sometimes to follow instructions. Therefore, you will need to be able to persuade them in a gentle manner to work effectively with them
  • Must have a high level of professionalism
  • Must be willing to travel locally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have knowledge of basic medical terminology
