The position:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have current CDL (CDL REQUIRED)
  • Have a clean driving record
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Be able to pass DOT drug screening
  • Self-motivated

Conditions:

  • DTG drivers must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, rainy, dusty, sunny, and dark conditions.
  • Must be able to operate trucks in residential, commercial, DTG recycling yards and on construction sites as well as public roadways to include highways and interstates.
  • Drivers must be able to perform full pre-trips and full post-trips daily in all weather conditions.
  • Schedule:
  • Drivers are typically scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 5pm-5am with a scheduled Saturday in a prescheduled rotation.
  • In the event of night work, if volunteers are not available, the Transportation Department will allocate who will be selected for temporary night or evening shifts to accommodate customer needs.
  • Typical workday is 10 hours. Busy season workdays can be 12 hours on a regular basis. Some days maybe shorter than 10 hours.
  • Physical:
  • Ten hours operating a truck each day is average. Entering and exiting the vehicle using the 3 points of contact method can be up to or more than 25 times.
  • Cleaning potential road hazards such as, debris, rocks, mud, dirt, sand, gravel, plastic, roofing etc. off of can sides, rails, and doors as well as truck bumpers, truck fenders, truck wheels and truck frame rails, will need to do as needed prior to leaving job site or yard.
  • Must be able to climb the attached metal fabricated ladder on the front right of the can to inspect the interior of the can for non-approved materials, persons or animals inside the can.
  • Must have the ability to open and close the rear door on the can. The doors are approximately 8 feet wide and anywhere from 2 feet to 8 feet tall depending on can size. Doors may be opened and closed in excess of 10 plus times daily depending on drivers work assignments.

Nonphysical:

  • Drivers must maintain a professional attitude and patience while operating a DTG vehicle in traffic, on job sites, in DTG recycling yards and always on public and private roadways. Drivers must obey all traffic signs, speed limits and traffic lights at all times.
  • Drivers must be able to handle all aspects of customer service, both on internal DTG sites and on customer job sites.
  • Drivers must be able to communicate with yard personnel, equipment operators and scale personnel as needed on DTG, customer and vendor sites.
  • Must be able to or willing to learn to communicate VIA CB radio when needed.
  • Must act professionally and appropriately during all traffic stops, scale stops and DOT inspections.

Duties:

  • Safely operate our brand-new roll-off trucks and containers
  • Travel to various job sites to pick up and drop off containers
  • Log/track loads in our system with provided tablets and smart phones
  • Keep accurate records and slips of loads each day
  • Complete drivers vehicle inspection reports

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
