Long Line Operator
Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to systematically assemble sills while maintaining acceptable production levels within the quality, safety and attendance parameters established.

Job Duties:
Level 3
- Responsible for keeping up with line production and rotation
- Maintain effective communication between crewmembers, line leaders and supervisor.
- Work effectively with Line Leader and Maintenance to resolve equipment problems promptly.
- Maintain a pace of 11.5 sills per man hour (57.5 pcs per hour) for a total of 460 per shift
- Perform repairs on sills and maintain a clean work area.
- Identify causes of downtime and bottlenecks causing loss of production and take corrective action
- Know all functions of each position (stapler, capper, t-nut/drill, vinyl insertion, rivet) on the line and be capable of running each efficiently. Performing adjustments and repairs to machines.
- Must have extensive knowledge of sill parts and how the parts are named.
Level 4
- Perform all functions required of level 3 to a high degree of skill and knowledge.
- Must keep up with line pace of 12.5 sills per man hour (62.5 pcs per hour) while rotating through all the positions within the line.
- Performing any minor maintenance on the machinery and become completely familiar with all of the machines on the line (staple guns, drill bits, adjust bulb compression).
- Complete working knowledge of all stop setups and changeovers.
- Changeovers must become second nature to the operator reducing downtime on the adjustable lines.
- Be knowledgeable and independent without always relying on the line leader.
- Be able to do set-ups between mull pack and standard 6’ line while understanding the build list and spec sheets.
Job Analysis
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Entry level position. Does not require previous knowledge, will receive the training to achieve desired level.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Approximately 6 months of work experience is required to become skilled in all phases of the job. Must be capable of reading a tape measure (1/8th 1/16th 1/32nd) while performing simple addition and subtraction. Must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing due to the accountability of production reporting.
INITIATIVE & INGENUITY: Work priorities are determined by daily build list, line leaders or supervisor’s instructions. The crewmember is responsible for quality checking the raw materials and sub-assemblies frequently. Must be capable of working with other crewmembers while following verbal and written instructions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under specific direction of assembly line or department leader, assembly Supervisor and Plant Manager, where goals and objective are established. Coordinate work with other crewmembers. Report any material handler deficiencies. Advise leads/supervisor of unusual circumstances as needed.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR ERRORS: Errors may be serious causing downtime and will become apparent in normal production runs.
CONTACT WITH OTHER: Regular contact with crewmembers, other employees, lead people and staff members where improper handling may affect results. Clear, concise communications skills are important.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Flow of work and character of duties involve frequent use of hands, wrists and arm motions while standing 10 hours per day with mandatory overtime when business demands. Rotating within the lines is required due to ergonomics. Normal and corrected hearing and vision are necessary with manual coordination, some walking with frequent bending, twisting, stooping and lifting of approximately 30 lbs. Must have good hand eye coordination and be mechanically adaptable to using some hand tools.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT: In order to advance, this position will be required to become capable of limited troubleshooting of all equipment on the line. Damage to this equipment would result in a loss for the company.
WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Exposed to normal factory environment (wood dust and aluminum) with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Must be able to withstand heat up to 95 degrees.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as specified in the Endura Safety Manual. This responsibility necessitates wearing of proper personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses & ear plugs) by each crewmember on the line.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This job includes other duties and responsibilities assigned by management. Regular attendance is essential to any position with Endura.
