A small livestock/fiber farm (goats, horses, various fowl, etc.) located at a busy holistic veterinary practice in Southern Lancaster County, close to the Chester County and MD line is looking for a reliable, responsible person who loves animals to manage day-to-day farm maintenance responsibilities and general livestock feeding and care. Approximately 40 +/- hours per week, including alternating weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working outside 5+/- days a week, in ALL TYPES of WEATHER, including alternating holiday and weekend hours. Some flexibility.
- Assist with daily farm and grounds maintenance (electric and wood fence maintenance and repair, mowing, gardening, weed control, hay moving, handyman jobs, barn, home, and office maintenance, and snow removal), tractor and small machine operation, and maintenance.
- Manure management: mucking, turning the pile, spreading, etc.
- Health care, feeding, and maintenance of farm animals; horses, goats, poultry, etc.
- Clear communication with farm staff and other managers, including record keeping of maintenance and farm repairs, etc.
Requirements:
- Farm maintenance and livestock experience are preferred, as well as a love of animals big and small.
- Reliable transportation
- Mechanical knowledge, basic landscaping skills, and light building projects prefered.
- Basic email, texting, and computer skills are needed for communication and records.
- Able to lift 65+/- lbs.
- Safely use tractors and other small machinery such as chainsaws, snowblowers, weed eaters, etc.
- Speak, read, and write English and communicate clearly.
- Reports to the farm manager and owner as needed
- 18+ yrs. old
