Terms of Employment:
10 months/ 183 days per year with additional 14 Supplemental Days. Salary is at Administrative Support Pay Grade PG3 on the EISD Compensation Plan. Entry level rate of pay is $16.53/hour with additional consideration based upon directly related experience.
Primary Purpose:
Assist lead librarian and literacy interventionist in the daily administration of the campus library. Perform routine clerical duties under certified librarian supervision to include technology inventory and working with literacy interventionist to provide small group instruction and close reading gaps.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency) and
- Forty-eight (48) semester college hours from an accredited college/university or
- Passed the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) test or
- Hold No Child Left Behind (NCLB) certificate
- Be eligible to obtain a Paraprofessional certificate issued by the State Board of Educator Certification

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide high quality individual instruction and assistance to individual students or small groups in using library media center resources including computers and other resources.
- Maintain daily operations of library and check books in and out. Collect and record fines.
- Process holds for all patrons.
- Ready materials for classroom or reserve collection use as requested by teachers.
- Prepare bulletin boards and displays and assist the librarian in preparing instructional materials.
- Read to small groups of students and listen to individual students read aloud.
- Prepare materials for interlibrary loan.
- Maintain a calendar for circulation and facility reservations.
- Maintaining a safe, neat and orderly library.
- Assist and facilitate the annual inventory and weeding of library media center materials.
- Shelve returned books, materials, and equipment.
- Assist and facilitate equipment distribution, collecting, and reporting.
- Familiarization with databases and digital library materials to ensure support for staff and students.
- Conduct instructional activities outlined by the lead librarian and/or interventionist and work with students to develop skills.
- Supervise and monitor students as assigned and assist librarian and teachers to maintain appropriate student behavior and an orderly atmosphere.
- Follow District guidelines in maintaining classroom management, discipline and confidentiality.
- Participate in required staff development, faculty meetings, special events and District sponsored activities.
- Assist students with reading, writing, testing or any other preparation or activities.
- Assist in directing the work of parent volunteers and student aides.
- Serve as brand ambassadors and manage campus websites.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Attendance at work is an essential job function.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Lifts/Carries 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance
- Pushing/Pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically

- Continual walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying climate conditions
- May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others
