Basalt is hiring Line Cooks. This role is responsible for preparing all menu items efficiently and to high standards for dine-in and take-out guests, as well as some prep & cleaning tasks.

Founded in Feb. 2020, Basalt is a queer & latino owned brunch restaurant that started as a Farmers Market concept and evolved into a brick & mortar location in April of 2021. From day 1 our commitment has been to building a community space based on values of inclusivity, compassion, equity, and respect. We are a 99% from-scratch kitchen and are constantly working towards ways to be more sustainable with our business practices as we grow.

Responsibilities

• Has an intimate knowledge of our food and prepares it with precision and care
• Works a variety of positions in BoH including grill, expo, and dish
• Completes daily prep work
• Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment
• Occasionally helps with the completion of Catering orders

Requirements

We are looking for folks who truly love thinking about, talking about, and eating food. Previous Kitchen experience is ideal but not necessary. We will teach the right candidate. Ideal attributes include:

Like most restaurants, this is a fast-paced work environment that requires a good work ethic and for you to be on your feet for up to 8 hours at a time.

Compensation

This is a part-time position with some weekend availability required.

• $15/hr + tips (average hourly wage = $20 / hr)
• 40 hours Paid Sick Leave (accrued)
• Shift Meal
• 50% off for dine-in & take-out food
