The Granite YMCA is seeking Lifeguards for our pool facilities at our YMCA of Greater Londonderry location. Not yet certified? Ask us about upcoming FREE Lifeguard certification course.

Lifeguards must have the ability to recognize and respond to hazardous situations. They must be able to supervise swimmers, minimize dangers, educate members about water safety, enforce rules and give assistance whenever needed. Eligible candidates should possess a current Red Cross Lifeguard or YMCA Lifeguard certification (or be willing and able to obtain via one of our FREE courses) and additional First Aid related certifications.

Responsibilities:

• Understands emergency procedures and recognizes and responds to emergency situations in the pool area.
• Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other team members.
• Understands and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool area. Takes responsibility for implementing and supporting change of policies/procedures.
• Maintains accurate pool records as required by the YMCA and state/local Health Department code.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed; this includes rescue equipment and well stocked fanny packs and first aid kits.

Position Specifics:

• FLEXIBLE scheduling available - easy to schedule around school or other jobs
• Hours available within weekdays and weekends including early morning, daytime and afternoon/evening shifts
• Availability for weekday afternoon shifts preferred
• Pay starting at $12hr and commensurate with experience
