At the Old Colony YMCA, we do this important and compelling work through eight full-facility branches, a multi-site child care branch; a branch serving families experiencing homelessness and a branch that operates residential/non-residential programs for adolescents. The Old Colony YMCA has over a $60 million operating budget and approximately 2,000 employees. Our corporate offices are located in Brockton, MA.

Paid Training and Development

Lifeguard

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director or Designee, the Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and well being of participants using the Old Colony Y aquatic facility.

Job Functions:

• Monitor overall pool safety habits of lifeguards and participants
• Attend all staff meetings, training or workshops
• Instruct assigned classes and perform assigned lifeguard shifts
• Provide prompt and courteous membership service by frequent face-to-face contact, name recognition and concerns follow-up to all Taunton Branch members and guests.
• Promote the values of the YMCA’s Character Development of Caring , Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent(preferred)
• Hold a valid lifeguard license either by YMCA, Red Cross or Jeff Ellis and Associates
• Hold the following certifications: CPR; First Aid
• WSI or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certifications (will attend YMCA training classes when offered)

Hours: 9am-7pm

5 hour shifts

7 days a week.
