Technical work in the operation and maintenance of a Water Treatment Plant. Work is performed under general supervision.

There are three levels of license in the Water Treatment Plant. Salary offer would be based on applicant's license and experience.

Treatment Plant Operator C – Pay Grade B10 – Salary Range: $18.62 - $33.02
Treatment Plant Operator B – Pay Grade B12 – Salary Range: $22.63 - $36.42
Treatment Plant Operator A – Pay Grade B13 – Salary Range: $23.76 - $38.28

Essential Job Duties

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Treatment Plant Operator C and B:*

• Assist in operation of water treatment or water pollution control facilities and maintenance thereof; taking samples, testing and supervising the running of tests.
• Help to correct malfunctions.
• Supervise subordinate trainees and other personnel.
• Assist in the training of personnel
• Check records and reports. Drive a vehicle.

In addition, Treatment Plant Operator A:

• Oversee, supervise and direct the duties of the personnel on an assigned shift.
• Communicate with management regarding operational, mechanical and technical problems and suggest changes that need to be made.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

• Knowledge of treatment plant operations, policies, procedures and methods.
• Ability to work rotating shifts
• Ability to make and maintain records and reports.
• Ability to supervise the work of subordinates.
• Good mechanical skills

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
• TPO C: Minimum of one (1) year actual experience in a Water Treatment Plant and a Class C Water Operators Certificate from State of Florida
• TPO B: Minimum of three (3) years actual experience in a Water Treatment Plant and a Class B Water Operators Certificate from State of Florida
• * TPO A: Minimum of five (5) years actual experience in a Water Treatment Plant and a Class A Water Operators Certificate from State of Florida.*
