Small Law Firm Seeks a Legal Assistant

Small West Hartford Law firm, with a focus on probate law and personal injury, has an opening for a part time Legal Assistant. Assistant’s responsibilities would consist of answering phone calls; handling mail; addressing clients’ inquiries; correspondence with insurance companies, courts, administrative agencies, etc.; research of various financial and legal matters; and any other tasks relating to the firm’s main practice areas. Depending on the candidate's performance and the firm's needs, the position may become full time after some time. Prior legal experience is not necessary, will train the right candidate. No health insurance or retirement plan benefits, but up to 3 weeks paid time off and flexible work hours. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications; bonuses and raises based on individual and firm’s performance.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree or higher

Proficiency with MS Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, etc. or similar

Strong written and verbal communications skills

Good at multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks

Quick learner

Punctual and responsible

Positive attitude

Works well/polite/patient with others

Preferred Qualifications

2-3 years-experience working in a professional office environment

Bilingual (Spanish, Russian, etc.)

Strong research and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently

Good sense of humor
