Lead Technical Sound Designer

Formosa Interactive Los Angeles is looking for an experienced Lead Technical Sound Designer / Audio Programmer with deep scripting skills and coding capabilities. This is a full-time (FTE) opportunity with benefits and working remotely is welcome.

Design and create audio systems, design sounds, and solve technical challenges across game projects. Lead and oversee audio technical strategies for game projects. Collaborate as a core member of these game development teams. Become part of the growing Formosa Group audio community alongside some of the finest audio professionals across all mediums, where excellence and quality are paramount.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with, and as a day-to-day part of, the game development team
• Collaborate with the creative director and other discipline leads in production, design, tech, and art
• Sound design creation across all areas of the game
• Design and build audio systems in Wwise
• Work directly in Unreal Editor to integrate audio events
• Oversee the work of additional sound designers and audio implementors

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of Unreal Editor and experience shipping games with Unreal, Unity, or similar proprietary game editor.
• Experience shipping projects using Wwise audio middleware
• Building out audio systems in Wwise in tandem with a game editor such as:
• Materials setups (footsteps & movement)
• Weapons and Impact matrixes
• Environmental systems
• Automated mixing systems
• High level understanding of game audio systems and how they interact with game systems
• Deep technical comprehension of game audio systems

Qualifications

• 3 – 5 years experience in AAA game development
• High School education or equivalent required.
• BA/BS in applicable field preferred.
