Lead Teacher
Job Description:
Lead Teachers are responsible for the developmentally appropriate care and education of children enrolled in the center, in accordance with both the state regulations for childcare and the policies and mission of Manchester Early Learning Center. These teachers accept responsibility for planning and executing duties as directed by the Executive Director and Director of Education.

Job Status:
Hourly, Full-time.

Job Classification and Compensation:
This position is assigned to the pay plan based on the experience of the candidate and the credential or degree achieved by the candidate.

Supervisor:
Executive Director

Minimum Qualifications:
1.High School Diploma or GED
2.Must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
or an equivalent or higher credential that addresses comparable
competencies; or must begin the credential within 6 months of employment
3.Willing to obtain training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with young children.
4.Complete all employee records as required.
5.Pass drug screenings and unlimited criminal history checks.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
1. Communicate effectively with children, their parents, and other staff.
2. Provide quality, nurturing care to children enrolled in the program.
3. Demonstrate skills to properly address developmental needs of young children.
4. Conduct and document developmental assessments of children.
5. Maintain effective, working relationships with children, parents, and staff.
6. Ability to move quickly, sit on floor, and lift up to 40 pounds.
7. Emotional and social maturity to act as a role model.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organize daily activities to provide children with a variety of experiences and opportunities.
  • Create a curriculum in accordance with the Foundations training for early education as maintained by the state of Indiana standards.
  • Maintain an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child and
family.
  • Promote feelings of security and trust in children.
  • Talk, sing, and read to children frequently.
  • Respect individual preferences and eating styles; sit with children and share family-style meals; model manners and good nutrition.
  • Tend to children's personal hygiene needs
  • Conduct ongoing developmental assessments of children.
  • Complete timely documentation according to center policies.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment, as well as practice good personal hygiene and hand washing
  • Maintain a cooperative attitude of working with other teachers, the center director, parents and volunteers.
  • Protect children from physical punishment or verbal abuse by anyone and immediately reports such incidents to the center director or person in charge.
  • Provide for the physical safety of each child from arrival time until departure.
  • Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional
disturbance, or other special needs, and reports these signs immediately to the
center director or person in charge.
  • Attend all mandatory training opportunities and staff meetings as provided
and scheduled.
  • Maintain professional code of conduct and work ethic.
  • Promote early learning in all areas of development.
  • Maintain a positive attitude during both emergency and stressful situations.
  • Perform any other tasks deemed necessary by the Executive Director and Director of Education.
