Lead Groundskeeper I, Correctional Facility
Job description
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades, the Lead Groundskeeper is responsible for working with employees and supervising inmates engaged in the planting, cultivating, propagating, transplanting and caring for trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, lawns and various other ground covers. Ensures that all safety rules and practices are observed, maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates, prevents escapes and injury to themselves, others, or to state property. Maintains security of working areas and work materials, inspects premises and searches inmates for contraband such as weapons or illegal drugs. Inmates will be supervised by staff at all times including movement to and from work areas.
