Salary: $140K-$160K

Job Description:

The Lead Chemical Process Engineer role will provide leadership for the local process engineering and process controls team. Participate in local plant leadership team activities, and provide strategic, technical support of the day-to-day plant operations and maintenance departments.

Requirements and Qualifications: Lead Chemical Process Engineer

  • BS in Chemical Engineering with minimum 7+ years polyolefin or chemical manufacturing plant experience preferred.
  • Experience in leading and managing technical engineering and/or operations teams.
  • Strong technical skills with ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Self starter who works well in cross functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities.
  • Previous plant experience in polyolefin manufacturing, preferably in spheripol or Unipol polypropylene technology.
  • Travel involved: 0-10%

Duties and Responsibilities: Lead Chemical Process Engineer

  • Manage portfolio of advanced process and equipment projects in order to drive process improvements for facility optimization and improving reliability, yield, variable cost, and energy performance
  • Maintain ownership of benchmarking and develop and implement plans to address gaps
  • Support capital group for process design on projects and debottleneck opportunities
  • Own and promote process safety by directing local plant PSM activities, such as PHA/LOPA evaluations and driving completion of compliance related action items, adhering to all aspects of OSHA PSM.
  • Perform process simulations to establish baselines, simulate modifications, and estimate performance enhancements to existing plant operations.
  • Perform and check design calculations and equipment sizing.
  • Perform Plant Operations Optimization Studies and monitor key performance indicators to determine if existing assets are performing to expectations. When opportunities for improvement are identified the Process Engineers will take the lead in their design and implementation to increase efficiency and production while reducing costs.
  • Develop and manage project design scopes in support of capital projects, commercial development, and plant optimization.
  • Manage capital and expenses related to engineering budgets.
  • Develop and Implement systems to improve and sustain value in the areas of health, safety, environment, production rates, equipment reliability, cost and quality.
  • Participate and/or lead Continuous Improvement including operations improvement and excellence teams.
  • Develop initial scope and business case for improvements projects. Support Capital projects through the FEL process.
  • Assist in developing commissioning and start-up procedures for new equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis studies to resolve plant process and equipment related issues and any near misses..
  • Participate, lead, and approve MOCs and PSSRs.
  • Responsible for review and resolution of action item closure as a result of HES, ISO, Insurance audits and PHA studies.
  • Monitor intermediate and product analyses and statistical data. Coordinate regular deciphering and entry of IEG data for any plant losses; hold regular meetings for site reviews
  • Develop, modify and/or review operational procedures.
  • Assist in safety valve evaluations and support end of month reporting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
