Job description

This position is located in the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office Detention Division and is responsible to provide clinical services; initial assessments, evaluations, diagnosis, therapy, and treatment plans for individuals incarcerated at the Gallatin County Detention center. Ensures those served receive consistent and appropriate mental health care in accordance with established local, federal and state policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines. This position reports to the Clinic Director and does not supervise other county personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This work requires knowledge of the principles and practices, theories, laws and authorities of LCPC/LCSW that includes: therapeutic theories, community resources; health care records management; interpersonal relations; Detention Center policy and procedures; inmate rights; common safety hazards and precautions; and the ability to apply knowledge; maintain accurate charts and records; handle sensitive and confidential information; communicate effectively both in writing and verbally; respond to emergency situations; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. This position is required to make independent determinations that could have significant ramifications and must possess excellent verbal and written skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The required knowledge and skills are generally acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to LCPC or LCSW in the state of Montana. Must have individual license and not be under supervision stage of licensing. Experience with offenders is preferred but not required.

As a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass a criminal history check and background investigation.
