RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
A person in this position operates one or more washing machines and dryers to launder hospital and hospitality linens and other articles.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. When operating tunnels or small washers they are required to
a. following customer and linen washing and drying requirements to achieve maximum quality of washing and drying processes.
b. manage and ensure proper sequencing to ensure equipment performs and capacity level.
2. When operating dryers, they are required to
a. interpret all wash and dry codes to ensure proper customer and linen requirements are achieved to achieve maximum quality of washing and drying processes.

3. Follow all duties of Linen Utility Worker position


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Supervisor Approval of working to be classified as “In Training” for Washer and Dryer Operator Position
  • Successful completion of a shift of operating the tunnel while achieving production standards

CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • A high level of communication skills is required to interact with leads, mechanics, and other staff
  • Critical thinking
  • Technical knowledge of all washing and drying equipment
  • Awareness of customer and linen washing and drying requirements

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to stand or be stationary for eight or more hours.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and push and/or pull carts weighing 500 pounds.
  • Must have good hand dexterity to sort, fold, and operate power equipment on a continuous basis.
  • Must be able to observe product and linen appearance so that specific standards are met.
  • Ability to work in a hot and humid environment. Protective equipment may be required.
  • Performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue.
