The Laundry Aide performs all the processes and operates all of the equipment involved in linen processing. This position is responsible for operating all equipment in the laundry area in order to process linen. The soiled linen is washed, dried and folded. The clean linen is distributed to all assigned areas in the facility.

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need, which may include but is not limited to: holidays, extended shifts, night and/or weekend shifts, standby and/or on-call. Reports to: Director, Administrator

Essential Functions

Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation.

Correctly identifies and appropriately uses cleaning chemicals. Assures all cleaning chemicals are properly diluted and labeled.

Ensures that all services are delivered on time and without interruption.

Informs Director of discrepancies or hazards in the work environment.

Demonstrates knowledge of facility’s fire plan.

Completes drying, folding and storing of clean linen for use during assigned shift hours.

Obtains and maintains working knowledge of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS), to include SDS
location and contents.

Keeps clean linen covered at all times in transport to the units.

Non-Essential Functions

Cross trains in order to perform all assigned duties required by the department.

Assists with orientation and training of others as directed.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to read, write, and speak basic English.
