Summary

CSG is actively seeking land surveyors interested in joining our Bay Area Survey & Mapping Division! When required to work at an office, employees may work at any of our Bay Area offices located in Foster City, San Jose, and Pleasanton.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Licensed Land Surveyor, responsibilities include performing general office and field surveying. The position is primarily an office survey position with flexible work hours. Functions include reviewing and preparing parcel maps, final / tract maps, and legal descriptions and plats for lot line adjustments and various easements. Other functions include performing topographic and boundary surveys and providing civil design support. Mapping review and office survey work may be performed entirely remotely, however applicants must be available for field work in the Bay Area. This is a full-time position.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of field and office surveying experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a surveying, civil engineering, or related curriculum
  • Familiarity with the California Subdivision Map Act and Land Surveyor’s Act
  • Knowledge of static data collection using RTS
  • Proficiency in reducing and processing field notes and processing electronic survey data
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software (MS Word and Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid California driver’s license

Desired Qualifications

  • California LSIT or PLS license. Responsibilities and salary will be dependent upon experience
  • Experience in preparing and/or reviewing legal descriptions & plats, parcel maps, tract maps, lot line adjustments, and easements
  • Ability to interpret old deeds and record maps
  • Ability to independently create survey CAD files, including but not limited to building surfaces, creating contours, and developing final topographic and boundary survey files for use in Capital Improvement Projects
  • Familiarity with GPS RTK equipment
  • Ability to lead a survey crew and troubleshoot issues with equipment
  • Ability to develop scopes of work and define project parameters

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to continually learn new techniques and processes as well as operate various types of equipment
  • Provide technical support to design staff for all field related inquiries
  • Coordinate site visits with project team personnel
  • Perform records research at County Recorders’ Offices

Working Conditions

  • Driving to job sites and be able to walk in and through job sites for extended periods.
  • Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Working with detailed, finely printed documents.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment when dealing with deadlines and multiple projects.
