KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools that prepares students for success in college and life. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in The Bronx. Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond – and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students. Today, our New York City network is comprised of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive support program for our alumni. KIPP NYC Public Schools currently serves more than 9,350 students and alumni and has a staff of more than 850. KIPP NYC is continuing to grow and opened two new middle schools and an elementary school August 2021!


Job Description


Position Overview:

The Community Outreach Senior Associate is a regional operations role critical to KIPP NYC’s mission to grow and serve nearly 10,000 students by 2028. The Senior Associate will be a new member of the KIPP NYC Regional Operations team and will support outreach efforts and family recruitment for our established and growing schools. In collaboration with school-based staff, the Community Outreach Senior Associate will oversee a successful community-facing campaign while supervising a team of part-time outreach staff to support enrollment across KIPP NYC. The Community Outreach Senior Associate will report directly to the Director of Student Enrollment.

This role requires local travel within NYC to our schools in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and upper Manhattan.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the hiring and management of a team of part-time Community Outreach Specialists, especially with a focus on customer service and family support
  • Build and manage relationships with youth serving community-based leaders and organizations to increase awareness of school choice and KIPP NYC’s mission, including local community events
  • Coordinate ongoing community engagement for KIPP’s Family Recruitment team
  • Manage communications with interested families and applicants, including email, voicemail, and social media
  • Timely and accurate data entry that will influence the creation, implementation, and revision of recruitment goals
  • Collaborate with the External Affairs team in their efforts to engage current and new parents in community-facing projects
  • Support Director of Student Enrollment and school-based Operations teams to provide planning, training, and direct allocation of staff time/resources around family engagement and enrollment
  • Coordinate and provide on-site support for family engagement events, such tours, information sessions, Open Houses and registration days, at our KIPP NYC schools and in the community
  • Support the Regional Operations team with updating and providing support related to Student Information Systems (SIS), ATS, or other platforms, and ad hoc projects, as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; 3+ years work experience in community-based, non-profit or education roles, Spanish fluency a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; strong organizational skills and able to manage multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the abilty to communicate clearly and persuasively to develop productive working relationships with our families and people from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated passion for and a commitment to the KIPP NYC mission for high-quality public education and social justice
