Job description

Position Objective: To hire a Christ-centered worship keyboardist/pianist who desires to unite with a congregation who is passionate to music. The worship service is mixed with a traditional and contemporary style of music.

General Responsibility: Under the supervision of the pastor, plans for, directs and performs piano music for weekly Sunday worship services, services for the Christmas and Lenten/Easter Seasons, and occasional services. The music includes hymns for congregational participation, preludes, offertories, responsorial music and postludes.
Prospective applicants must demonstrate skill on the piano.

Qualifications:
1. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him
toward the covenant of a Professing Partner in the church.
2. Commitment to the mission, vision, and worship philosophy of Thiells Garnerville United Methodist Church.
3. Demonstrates strong keyboard and musical skills.
4. The ideal Keyboardist would be a gifted instrumentalist.

Abilities:
1. Gifted piano and keyboard player and must be able to read music.
2. Ability to play an upbeat song with a cord sheet a plus.
3. Relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for worship.
4. A team player with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate hymn selection with pastor.
2. Play piano for the 10:30 am Sunday worship service. You would need to be at the church at 9:30 am to practice with our small choir, and also with any special music such as solos and children’s choir.
3. Perform three or four hymns, a doxology and a short prelude and postlude at the weekly worship Service.
