Scope of Position:

This important and highly visible position is responsible for growing the corporate retail chain business in Illinois. Primary responsibilities are to drive and direct regional/national accounts to meet and exceed case sales, revenue, programming and new item goals. This role involves management of key retail customers, strategic planning, direct selling, working directly with marketing and suppliers, leveraging information and technology and improving processes.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct and control the execution of company initiatives including sales volumes, distribution objectives and programming goals.
  • Identify and manage key programs through detailed tracking and recaps. Analyze results and future recommendations for increased success and results. Leverage analytical reporting tools to manage overall program performance, brand initiatives and new item introductions
  • Work with Director of Key Accounts to set business plans and manage supplier relations for go to market strategies
  • Work closely with key supplier Marketing personnel to execute national programs as well as develop regional marketing programs for key customers
  • Coordinate and organize meetings, supplier business reviews and high profile customer calls
  • Work with supplier National account managers for all suppliers and wineries
  • Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, trends, competitive activity and marketplace policies
  • Use category management to improve share of programming, develop key programs to introduce new items or line extensions, expand overall share of distribution accordingly within all segments and categories
  • Develop and foster relationships with key national and regional chain account buyers

Requirements/Qualifications:

Candidate must have high energy, ability to articulate confidently and clearly to diverse audiences, be self-motivated and self-sufficient and demonstrate strong business acumen. Must demonstrate strong strategic vision, leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire. A strong understanding of both off-premise and on-premise is preferred; within the off-premise, must have an understanding of channel management with chains, clubs and drug channels. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of knowledge and comprehension of the basics of wine knowledge, wine industry nuances, computer skills, pricing, programming, brand development and customer relations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with highly effective time management are required. Must have ability to work in a fast paced environment and be a team player who can work well with minimal supervision and direction. High credibility, accountability and execution capabilities that translate strategy into marketplace activity are essential. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 – 7 years previous relevant wine industry experience.
