Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states. We believe in the dignity of every person, and in the freedom of all people to experience the highest degree of self-determination.
We are seeking a dynamic Job Developer to maintain activities to develop, locate, and secure job openings for persons with disabilities in need of employment; market programs and coordinates job resources.
The pay rate for this position is $17.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Develop professional relationships with businesses and job placement agencies to promote employment options for individuals with disabilities.
- Network with potential employers to understand their staffing needs and market the benefits of using our employment support services.
- Research job postings to identify potential job developer opportunitites.
- Refer qualified applicants to employers and follow up as needed to assist with job placements.
- Participate in community events that promote job development, such as local job fairs.
- Participate in Community outreach and recruitment activities
- Provides program information to various businesses and update information as needed.
- Coordinate business orientations
- Provide networking opportunities between agencies
- Keep updated on current trends and maintain updated labor market information by researching web sites, attending meetings, maintain contacts with trade schools/organizations involved in job placement/training activities.
- Cooperate with audits, inspections, and investigations
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Supervision of Job Coaches and training
- Visit Employment sites
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Relevant experience with job placement in either private or public agencies
- Valid drivers License with a satisfactory driving record
- Knowledge of effective procedures in identifying and securing training sites for individuals
- Proficient in utilizing a variety of job posting sites and social media platforms: Linkedin, Indeed, Zip Recruiter, Networking, Job postings.
- Comfortable cold calling and networking job development activities
- Ability to work individually and with a team to support individuals with IDD
- Ability to establish comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
- Ability to exercise good judgement and remain calm in crisis situations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
Additional Requirements for Tennessee Applicants
Qualifications for Job Developer, staff must obtain one of the following:
- Association of People Supporting Employment (APSE)
- Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) Certificate received through passing an exam.
- ACRE Basic Employment Certificate – The Supported Employment Online Certificate Series earned through Virginia Commonwealth University.
- ACRE Basic Employment Certificate in Community Employment with Emphasis on Customized Employment offered by Griffin-Hammis Associates.
- ACRE Basic Employment Certificate – College of Employment Services (CES) Plus offered by University of Massachusetts Institute for Community Inclusion.
- ACRE National Certificate of Achievement in Employment Services earned through University of Tennessee.
- ACRE Professional Employment Certificate earned through completion of “Work Works” on-line course offered by University of Georgia Institute on Human Development and Disability.
