Position: Job Coach Paraprofessional
Location: Post-Secondary Program

West Hartford Public Schools is seeking a candidate with a proactive and positive attitude for a full-time Job Coach Paraprofessional position for the 2022-23 school year. Job Coach Paraprofessionals work with adolescents and young adults across a variety of settings including in schools/classrooms, vocational sites, and in the community. Lifting, walking, and other physical duties including addressing activities of daily living are associated with this position. Candidate must be flexible and able to easily adapt as requested and present as mature with good interpersonal skills, and responsible decision-making abilities. This is a 10-month position with full benefits such as participation in town pension plan, paid holidays, sick days, family illness days and a personal day.

Paraprofessionals are expected to exhibit professionalism, punctuality, and attentiveness of job responsibilities at all times.

Requirement: High school education or GED.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and monitor students in school, community, vocational, and leisure time activities across a variety of settings.
• Make mature decisions, problem-solve, and work collaboratively with colleagues, teachers, and community partners.
• Understand and adapt to students’ abilities, and implement strategies to foster students’ increasing independence across settings.
• Assist students in self-care areas as needed, including but not limited to, personal hygiene, toileting/changing, feeding, dressing, mobility, lifting, and positioning.

Rate of pay is $20.52 per hour.
