Rendering / Basement Team Member

1st Shift

Position Overview

This position will oversee the rendering process in the basement throughout the day for the Harvest department. They will maintain the cleaning standards in the basement, work with the vendors who come in for trailer pickup and address any concerns in the basement immediately. Understand, communicate, and collect Sustainable Swine Resources (SSR) for the site. Be able to react and respond to the surrounding environment to support other departments.

Pay range $22.69 to $27.23.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

• Monitor trailers for capacity and switch them out as needed, using a yard tractor

• Maintain clean drains, floors, rendering space in general throughout the day

• Collection of recyclables and delivery to the Recycle Center

• Support chemical inventories and resupply

• Reach out to the rendering company if there are changes to the schedule or if we need to add a trailer for the day

• Be certified on the forklift, yard tractor, and be competent to operate both throughout the day

• Maintain the proper collection of hides and SSR

• Work with other team members in Harvest to maintain proper trailer changeover processes

• Set up for days collection of rendering product and clean / close down for the night

• Complete all other duties as assigned

Education

• High School Diploma Preferred

Experience / Skills

• Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred

• Experience operating commercial motor vehicle preferred

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and to be flexible by adjusting priorities

• Excellent written, verbal and people skills

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift 60 pounds

• Walking/Standing/Climbing stairs throughout the shift

• Bending/Reaching/Twisting throughout the shift

Other Requirements

• Willingness to work in a harvest/slaughter environment

• Ability to put safety first and foremost by utilizing proper lock out/tag out procedures (LOTO), and wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and fall protection

• Ability to work with heights as needed for the trailers

• Ability to work outside in hot and cold conditions

• Ability to work alone with little supervision

Full Time, Hourly

Hours:

1st shift – 6:30am – 3:00pm (end time varies depending on harvest demands). Overtime expected including possible weekend days.
