The Information Technology Department is searching for a communication expert eager to create and edit relevant, appealing content that clearly communicates technology efforts. This dedicated storyteller will have ownership of various communications campaign materials. Examples include developing graphics, webpage design, video scripts, strategic campaigns and highly technical, rich content development. This individual must be naturally curious and use critical thinking skills to translate technical information to non-technical employees.
This role will require significant interaction and collaboration with Project Managers, Technology Business Partners, and Senior IT Leaders. This position will also be an in-office work environment at our World Headquarters in Kansas City
- Develops compelling thought leadership content; conducts interviews and research as needed to inform special projects.
- Manages crisis communication under tight timelines following the IT Major Incident Management Process.
- Review written materials with a high level of creativity and attention to detail, following AP and corporate style rules, brand guidelines and taxonomy.
- Develop strategic communication plans and content for large enterprise technology changes in support of strategic priorities
- Demonstrate a high level of competency in content marketing framework and best practices.
- Develop change communication to align with service updates, outages and planned disruptions
- Collaborate with project managers and department leaders to correct inconsistencies between related campaign materials in text, typography and graphics.
- Propose and present story ideas and articles
- Work independently to manage and prioritize multiple projects, initiate meetings/conversations, adhere to schedules and meet deadlines.
- Provide recommendations and take the initiative to update the Information Technology site to match the existing service offering
- Demonstrate curiosity and interest in understanding technical information with the ability to write from the perspective of an employee
- Oversee key initiatives and projects.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
- Act as the key communications lead on all major IT Incidents.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Strategic Communications, Public Relations, English, Technology or a related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience is required. Experience in internal communications is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly present complex information to a variety of media channels and range of audience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated skill and aptitude for accurate proofreading
- Extensive knowledge of AP Style, grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Experience working with the professional services industry is a plus.
- Expert creative or technical writing experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative public relations strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and provide excellent client service.
