Position Summary
The IT Systems Support Specialist works in conjunction with the Network Administrator to support the technology needs of the firm. This role is the first point of contact for the help desk and plays a key role in supporting end users and maximizing the effectiveness of our software solutions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Creates and configures new user accounts on the network, ensures that users have access to the appropriate software, sets up workstations, and provides training support to end users.
- Works diligently with staff to troubleshoot and resolve issues with computer systems (hardware & software), printers, AV infrastructure, phone systems and other systems in a timely manner.
- Shares industry software knowledge in a multitude of ways including one-on-one training, group training, video chats, and by phone.
- Creates and maintains training materials, instructions, and best practice documentation to support end-users and systems integrity.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and teamwork.
- Manages projects to ensure timely completion, documentation, and effective communication.
- Installs software updates as needed to ensure effective operations.
- Dependable, reliable, and protective of sensitive and confidential information.
- Researches, evaluates, analyzes and makes recommendations on hardware and software to meet operational needs and business goals.
- Offers recommendations on streamlining processes, improving the end user experience, and software upgrades.
- Collaborates with consultants and industry experts to resolve issues, research new solutions, and understand industry trends.
- Participates in ongoing professional development related to job responsibilities and maintaining expertise.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field.
- Relevant certifications and training preferred.
- Four (4) years of experience in similar role.
- Tech savvy with working knowledge of business software, networks, and systems.
- Expert user of MS Office Suite including MS Teams, Microsoft 365, VM ware, AD & Azure AD. Virtualization knowledge highly preferred. Experience with accounting related software preferred.
- Understanding of cyber security best practices.
- SQL scripting experience preferred.
- Ability to quickly learn new software including ways to maximize effectiveness.
- Ability to train end users on software.
- Ability to approach solutions and explanations in a variety of ways to best communicate with individuals.
- A current, valid driver license.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to stand, sit, reach, stoop, bend, push, pull, kneel, use hands and fingers with a high manual dexterity, walk, talk, hear and see.
- Ability to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computer, office equipment, calculator, telephone, etc. Tasks may require extended periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift or exert up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Tasks are regularly performed in an office environment without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- Frequent same day travel for work at client’s offices, meetings and seminars using a personal vehicle.
- Occasional out-of-town travel with overnight stay for work at clients, meetings or seminars using a personal vehicle.
- Occasional additional hours required throughout the year. Annual hours expectation of 2,100-2,200.
