IT Specialist - District Office
This is an 8 hour/day, 10-month position under the Classified Bargaining Unit. The start date is as soon as possible.
Please note: To comply with Governor Kate Brown’s Executive Order, all staff, substitutes and volunteers in K-12 schools will be required to be fully vaccinated by October 18, 2021. DEFINITION
Under the supervision of the Director of Information Services, performs a variety of tasks associated with technology including maintaining and repairing a variety of computers and computer-related equipment, including telephones, video systems, and other electronic equipment, and performs related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This position requires a broad knowledge of computer and electronic equipment including software and hardware used throughout the school district.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Assists teachers and students in the operation and care of computer and computer-related equipment; operates equipment and does related tasks in assisting teachers with instruction; repairs, adjusts, modifies, and maintains various types of electronic devices including computers, other hardware, networks, software, and phones and video systems as well as other electronic equipment as needed; diagnoses malfunctions of electronic equipment; helps to determine specifications for purchase of equipment and provides a technical evaluation of hardware and software being considered for purchase; assists in training programs for teachers, administrators, and students and; assists with websites. Other duties or tasks assigned by supervisor.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Proper procedures for the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of a variety of hardware including installation of software, phone systems, video systems, and other electronic equipment;
- Safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic equipment.
Ability to:
- Communicate well and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees, students, and the public;
- Locate and repair problems with hardware, software, and other electronic equipment;
- Set up and operate audio-visual apparatus;
- Routinely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance;
- Complete all district required trainings.
Experience:
- One year of experience in installation, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment.
- Experience in a school setting preferred but not required.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent as required by Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Department of Education.
