The Information Technology Project Manager position consists of planning, initiating, and managing Information Technology (IT) projects. It also consists of leading and guiding the work of technical staff, serving as a liaison between business and technical aspects of projects, planning project stages and assessing business implications for each stage, and monitoring progress to ensure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met. The IT Project Manager will provide leadership on all project components and also consult and support the IT Project Office manager with agile/lean portfolio management reviews and special projects, as required. This position will be an in-office setting at our World Headquarters in Kansas City.
- Lead and manage internal resources and third-party vendors in the successful execution of projects.
- Define project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Develop and implement a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress using a range of methodologies.
- Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including senior management, project sponsors, external vendors, and project teams.
- Perform risk management reviews to minimize project risk.
- Create and manage comprehensive project documentation.
- Ensure the project review process and other quality control guidelines are followed.
- Establish project teams, coordinate activities of multiple stakeholders, and ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff while assuring adherence to performance requirements.
- Provide performance feedback to department managers for project team members as appropriate.
- Actively manage project scope, cost, schedule, and quality to meet stakeholder expectations.
- Support the IT Project and Portfolio Office Manager with daily project/portfolio reviews and analysis.
- Effectively communicate project status, risks, forecasted completion, and costs to all stakeholders.
- Manage preparation and approval of weekly and ad hoc internal reports
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and practices within the organization
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited program.
- Minimum 8 years related experience in Project, Portfolio, or Product Management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Certification in Lean and Agile Project/Portfolio Management methodologies and certifications (i.e., SAFe, Scrum, PMI-ACP) is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, favoring candidates with applied business and/or technology ethics experience.
- Demonstrated success in project management in an entrepreneurial environment preferred.
- A second language is preferred but not required.
- A Project Management Certification (i.e., PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM) is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
