Position Overview

The IT Analyst is responsible for helping business partners identify and implement technology solutions by determining the business requirements for a product, project, or program, and translating these requirements into user stories and features. The IT Analyst provides general analytical support across products and the entire organization, and therefore should understand key business processes, key business drivers, short and long-term direction, and related technologies. During development, the IT Analyst deals with issues and questions as well as provides support in implementing required changes.

The IT Analyst communicates emerging business and customer trends to delivery teams; supports prototyping and design for innovative solutions; identifies opportunities for business-led delivery; and promotes modern technology opportunities and trends to business partners and product managers.

The IT Analyst has knowledge and understanding of IT Operations and the processes that control workflow and changes. The IT Analyst can provide support and recommendations towards business request handling, change and release control, asset and inventory tracking, and major incident handling/tracking. The IT Analyst can provide support in IT risk and finance disciplines such as internal or external audit handling, budgeting, contract management, and technical/process writing.

The IT Analyst participates in program increment planning, pre-and-post planning, system, and solution demos, and inspect and adapt events. The IT Analyst may also contribute to the development of the team backlog and architectural runway, management of work in process (WIP) levels, and support of program and solution Kanban's.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works with Product Managers, Product Owners, and business units to identify and capture business problems and non-functional requirements
  • Understands the customer journey and translates into user stories
  • Keeps current with new and emerging industry, functional, and technology trends
  • Identifies stakeholder beliefs to inform requirements prioritization and shares with Product Owner
  • Translates business requirements into functionality and features
  • Provides business partners with an accurate view of challenges to end-user buy-in under the guidance of Product Managers and Owners
  • Aligns technology solutions with business strategies comprised of moderate to complex business processes
  • Understands and applies information and data analysis requirements
  • Defines, sets up, and executes test cases
  • Acts as the voice of the business to the technical product team
  • May prototype and co-design for innovative solutions
  • May identify opportunities for business-led delivery
  • May educate engineers on a project or product’s context, and effectively with geographically distributed teams
  • Help employees to make better use of technology and information when necessary
  • Provides consultative support on business-led technology products and projects
  • Knowledge in ITSM process creation, management and improvement
  • Knowledge in financial management, including contract negotiation, vendor management, and budget control methods
  • Knowledge of risk management, including handling internal/external audits, departmental risk identification and management
  • Participates in planning and other release events as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree or in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related fields or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically requires 2-5 years of experience in the desired field or may have intermediate level technical or business work experience
  • Experience in an agile environment strongly preferred
