Primary responsibilities include conducting intakes and assessments, developing employment plans, conducting practice interviews, creating and enhancing resumes, and leading career counseling sessions that convey key messages about the importance of employment in becoming self-sufficient. Associates will also develop and cultivate long term relationships with area employers in order to identify appropriate employment opportunities for clients, determine specific employment opportunities appropriate to clients, and assist them in accessing these opportunities by guiding them through the hiring process. To ensure program compliance and success, Associates will monitor job performance, wage level, and employer/employee satisfaction; assist clients and employers as necessary with post-placement and continuing employment needs; and maintain files and database records to track client progress through all economic development services.

IRC opened an office in Seattle in 1976 and provides a continuum of services including intensive case management, employment and economic empowerment services, immigration assistance, health and wellness programming, and education support to refugee and immigrant families in Washington State. The Early Employment department works with over 200 households each year in employment programs that place refugees and immigrants in both entry level and higher skilled, higher wage jobs. Newly arrived refugees and immigrants in the US often lack the English skills, employment networks, community support, and knowledge of US human resources and workplace norms needed to find employment. IRC Early Employment program staff provide intensive case management and job readiness services to participants to remove barriers to employment, find employment that allows them to be economically self-sufficient, and support them post-employment placement to encourage job retention. The Job Placement Associate is a full time, one year position that will be responsible for effectively administering services to assist newly arrived clients to attain self-sufficiency through employment. The Associate will work closely with IRC staff and employers to facilitate job readiness and job placement among program participants, and assist in program compliance and outcomes.
