International Desk Sales Officer

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for developing commercial relationships with International Desk prospects, customers & COIs. The role will be focused on client acquisition & origination, working closely with Relationship Managers in Commercial Banking to effectively achieve new business opportunities and revenue growth targets. The International Desk Sales Officer will also promote Santander’s international capabilities to Santander customers & prospects whenever they may require support in any of our markets abroad, in coordination with our other Santander International Desks. The position will report to the Head of International Banking.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

Origination

  • Inbound business
    • Identity inbound business opportunities with US affiliates of Santander customers abroad
    • Manage referrals coming from Santander units abroad, arranging first contacts in the US to understand client’s operations and overall financing / transactional needs.
    • Closely work with Relationship Managers at Santander in the US to effectively execute new business opportunities.
  • Outbound business: Responsible for developing outbound business.
    • Promote Santander’s international capabilities to Santander customers & prospects whenever they may require support in any of our markets abroad.
    • Identity opportunities to work with US parent corporations that have presence in some of our Santander core markets abroad.

Business development

  • Coordinate the communication with the International Desks abroad to develop cross-border campaigns and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support specific projects focused on growing Santander US’s international client base.

COIs

  • Responsible for managing the relationship with international and strategic COIs.
  • Proactively collaborate with COIs to position Santander as an international bank participating in discussion panels, trade mission, forums etc.

Support

  • Deliver advisory service and support to RMs from customers demanding international Desk services through visits/calls

QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Professional Experience in banking / financial sector. 5-6 Years.
  • Professional fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members across the Bank at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize several projects at a time.
  • Excellent client calling skills and ability to negotiate and close deal / transactions; as well as Strong customer service skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills.
  • Full understanding of banking products, as well as the typical needs of recently established US subsidiaries of foreign groups.
  • Knowledge of products, regulatory requirements and policies and procedures.
  • PC proficiency including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of banking practices in other countries, as well as Santander capabilities in different markets.

Working Conditions:

Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.

For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $120,000-$180,000. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
