Humane Society of Summit County is accepting applications for a full-time Intake Coordinator. The perfect candidate will be detail and schedule-oriented, excel in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment, and enjoy working with animals and people!

It will be the responsibility of the Intake Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Operations, to schedule, coordinate and help oversee the intake, vaccinations, and health checks of all shelter animals. They will work closely with all animal care departments to ensure proper disease control and efficient movement of animals through the shelter. This position will work directly with the public by intaking sick and injured strays, along with managing the owner surrender and lost/found programs.

The Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) is our community?s resource for rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption for abused, neglected, and abandoned companion animals of our community. Additionally, we provide community services to support pet owners and strengthen the human-animal bond. Working Hours:

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) with variable scheduled hours between 9:00am ? 7:00pm, Monday thru Friday. Some weekend days may be required. Successful candidates will have open or flexible availability.

Successful candidates will possess the following qualities:

  • Function comfortably and efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with staff, volunteers, and the public in a professional, credible, respectful, and personable manner.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information and sensitive situations.
  • Computer proficiency and Microsoft office including word processing, spread sheets, meeting software and email, proficient with animal management software and databases.
  • Experience working with animals.
  • Animal handling experience including fear free animal restraint, and knowledge and practical experience with animal blood draws and vaccinations.
  • Basic understanding of animal learning theory with emphasis on positive reinforcement.
