GENERAL SUMMARY:

Southland Steel Fabricators is seeking qualified applicants for an Instrumentation/Electrician Technician role at its production plant in Greensburg, LA. The applicant should have extensive knowledge of industrial processes and the components that make them function. (i.e. motors, drives, sensors, limit switches, pumps, valves, PLC systems, hydraulic systems, computer skills, automation experience, etc.)

DESIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR SKILLS:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical components within a process.
• Functional knowledge of mechanical components.
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Strong knowledge of I&E troubleshooting/repair
• PLC programming experience is desired, but not required.
• Must have basic computer skills.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Adhere to all Southland Steel Fabricators, Inc. Safety Rules, Policies, and Procedures
• Attend all required safety meetings
• Inspect the tools and equipment prior to work each day to ensure they are free of defects
• Always use hand and power tools safely with correct guards in place
• Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with policy and adequate for specific tasks

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to frequently pull, push, carry, or lift tools, equipment or materials 50 lbs.
• Ability to withstand frequent bending, squatting, or crouching
• Ability to frequently handle (hold, seize, grasp, turn, etc.) tools, equipment, or material
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, to include cold, heat, and humidity
