Essential Responsibilities

Entry level position- Under the direct supervision of a Party Chief and the Survey Division Manager, the Survey laborer performs various field surveying laboring duties. Such duties include but are not limited to pounding stakes, setting back sights, setting up tripods, writing survey stakes, checking grade, shoveling, and various other duties to support Machine Control Paving, and survey crews at various jobs, as required on heavy highway and commercial projects.

The hours (40-70+ hours a week) will be long and the ideal candidate needs to be willing to work at least 6 days a week during the summer months (peak construction season), nights and weekends.

  • Assist in making plane and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects, machine control support, and various other survey support work.
  • Assist in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment and field safety procedures.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including Robotic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles.
  • Pound stakes and rebar, mark lath, shovel when needed, carrier equipment stakes, hammers, lath, rods, tripods, and various other survey gear or supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Proactively upholds all safety polices and standards.
  • Maintains strict adherence to Company policies and procedures.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as directed.

Qualifications

  • Highs school or GED education preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 months of survey experience in field operations preferred but not required
  • A minimum of 3 months of survey experience with a heavy Civil / Highway construction company is strongly preferred, but not required
  • A minimum of 3 months of experience with Trimble and Leica equipment is preferred but not required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
