The Walker Center for Teaching and Learning is seeking applicants for the role of Instructional Designer. The successful candidate will be part of a 10-person team tasked with promoting quality teaching and learning on our campus. The person in this position will assist faculty with design and development of face-to-face, online, hybrid, and hyflex course design, provide expert guidance for the best practices for teaching and learning, assist faculty with the use of Canvas (our learning management system), and promote techniques for integrating learning technologies into teaching and learning practices. Instructional Designers on this team design and lead faculty development opportunities and programs for teaching and learning such as seminars, workshops, individual consultations, cohorts, book clubs, and various other programs as needs and opportunities arise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, writes, edits, and/or assesses instructor led, web based, eLearning courses, and course materials in collaboration with subject matter experts
- Tests, verifies, and validates technological procedures or processes related to course delivery
- Provides ongoing support and technical assistance for delivered courses and technologies
- Provides advice on pedagogical and instructional design theories, and practical guidance on teaching and learning innovations
- Provides consultation services and training workshops to course instructors

- Pedagogy and andragogy

- Instructional design models, processes, and instructional development methods
- Instructional design software technologies
- Accessibility standards and universal design principles
- Analytical skills
- Writing and editing skills
- Ability to develop courses and trainings
- Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing, and through visuals

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution
- Three years of experience designing, developing, delivering, and/or evaluating courses in various modalities
- Experience with at least one learning management system
- Experience integrating various learning technologies into teaching and learning
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. (or terminal degree) received or in progress
- Experience with high impact practices and experiential learning
- Strong record of working collaboratively as part of a team
- Commitment to fostering a sense of inclusion for a diverse group of learners and instructors
