POSITION SUMMARY
Instructional Design Specialists are tasked with the design and creation of training curriculum packages. An Instructional Design Specialist is a subject matter expert in course design and provides insight, suggestions and guidance to the department to ensure necessary adult learning theories are correctly and thoroughly applied to all courseware. Instructional Design Specialists develop training package designs concepts and assists with providing guidance to ensure the vision for end result of the training package is achieved. Instructional Design Specialists have decision making authority founded on their skill and discipline within the Training Fraternity. In addition, an Instructional Design Specialist will assist, as needed, with the creation and editing of technical manuals and procedural documentation. Also, this position is responsible for conducting research and maintaining archived content. This position reports to a Department Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of NationsBenefits programs, products, policies and technology.
  • Identify and obtain the supplies, equipment and materials necessary for successful delivery of training content
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in support of effective and engaging student learning and training
  • Ability to work on own initiative and organize own workload
  • Balance competing demands
  • Work closely with, advise and support training experts both internally and externally to ensure resulting courseware best fits the needs of all concerned
  • Work with the project manager to develop courseware projects and services
  • Consult with departments to analyze business process-supporting technology needs, and documents new processes for end-user retrieval of data and/or information.
  • Promote the use of technology and technology tools to support continued efficiency and improvement in departmental processes
  • Designs curriculum on various subjects, systems and/or processes
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders
  • Accomplish other tasks as assigned by a duly authorized member of training leadership

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies:

Excellent lesson and curriculum planning skills. Ability to write and edit effective instructional text. Able to utilize knowledge and analytical ability to anticipate and solve problems as well as provide feedback and suggestions for improvements. Possess highly specialized, theoretical and technical expertise in curriculum design, and adult learning theories. Comfortable developing and implementing design standards. Provides basic direction on course development.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Advance understanding of adult learning principles and instructional methodologies, degree preferred but not required.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in relevant field.
Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher.

Other Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Commitment to customer service and collaboration.
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Confident in producing work across multiple platforms
  • Able to align multiple brand strategies and ideas

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
